We are near the end of the first semester of the year, so how are your adult volunteers doing? This is a great time to stop and evaluate how your adult volunteers are doing in terms of the mission of your ministry. You laid out a plan about four months ago, how is the ministry progressing? I always like to take this time and meet with my volunteers to evaluate, challenge and encourage them. First it’s important to take time and meet with them. Allow them to tell you how they feel about the ministry and what is going well and what changes they think they need to make. Then give them some encouragement, let them know how much you appreciate them. Praise them for their service and ministry. Tell them one story you heard about impact they are making. Then re-cast the vision and challenge them to push forward. If you can think of one specific challenge, this would be best. Challenges give volunteers skills to work on and reminds them of how important the ministry is in the lives of students. End with more praise and encouragement. Each one of your volunteers is special. This meeting with your adults is the most important meeting you will have in December, so don’t miss it.
