Focus on Play

youth worker, youth ministry, student ministry, leadership, student leadership

At the start of every ministry year I make sure we do two things here at LeaderTreks. First, we regenerate the mission.  Second, we play. Regenerating the mission means we discuss and plan how we are going to live out the mission God has given us in light of our current situation. The mission never changes but how we live it out does. Play means we have fun together. Our game is Whirlyball; we love speeding around in those awful bumper cars, laughing at each other as we try and get that wiffle ball into the basket. Then to my house for a BBQ lead by Phil “the chef” Krause. Its a great time to get to know each other and have fun! Team play is essential for teamwork. When you play together you bond and that bond is needed later when things get tough. If your team is having a hard time getting along and there is not much unity, try getting in a bumper car and ramming each other.  It works for us.
