Helping Volunteers Refuel

student ministry, youth ministry, youth worker

Most of us in youth ministry give our adults the summer off. We suspend small groups and ask adults to just check in with students every now and then. We think that this time away from the ministry will really help them refuel. Truthfully the time off is nice but its doesn’t do anything to make them better leaders.  What would it look like if we used summer to really train our adults? To help them refuel by truly giving them new fuel? Instead of adults meeting with students, how about having them meet with you? You could go over teaching techniques or how to be transformational by using personal stories or illustration when teaching. You could use the time to have them teach to you and you could evaluate them. This would make them great teachers – refueled and ready for a new year!
