Distinctive Elements: Over the past 15 years, thousands of students have field-tested our unique combination of Bible study, prayer and growth journalling, and evaluation. We know it works, and the result is spiritual growth, personal growth, and dramatically changed lives.
Bible Study Topics
A Vow to Defend studies the life of Joshua. Joshua was given a vow to lead the Israelites into the land God promised them. We too have been given a vow to defend – a vow to love Christ and be conformed to His likeness. This study challenges students to defend their vow, to fight to be changed and to reach the promised land.
Bible Study Methods
We intentionally use different Bible study methods throughout the book so students learn to view Scripture through a variety of lenses. Also, our goal is that students discover at least one method they will continue to use after the trip.
We’ve customized the ACTS method – Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplication – for students by including a section where they record how God is answering their prayers. Our approach balances asking and listening.
We provide a daily evaluation for individuals, as well as space for students to write their thoughts and feelings. This journal will be instrumental in helping students realize how God worked in their lives on the trip. Understanding that cements the trip experience into changed lives back home.
Our Target Three evaluation tool encourages daily evaluation of the team which leads to improved effectiveness and greater unity. Students answer specific questions targeted to identify what the team is doing well and how they can improve.
Buying Tip: If you are taking a mission trip that is longer than 12 days, consider buying a three week devotional and encouraging students to finish the Field Guide after they return home.
