Recruit Now

student ministry, youth ministry, youth worker

Use the flexibility that summer brings to recruit next year’s adult volunteer leaders. Many of us want to take a break and forget about the pressures of youth ministry, but this will only lead to more pressure in the fall. By starting to recruit now, you will have the luxury in August of not having to pick whoever is breathing to volunteer in the youth ministry. You will also have the chance to pick people and place them in the right part of the ministry, based on their passion rather than an immediate need.

Here’s an idea to recruit leaders over the summer.

Dodgeball for Adults: Have a youth ministry “open house” where any adults from the church can come and play fun, youth ministry games. Cut out 20 minutes to let them ask questions about the youth ministry, hear first-hand from 1 or 2 current volunteers, and have a chance to catch the vision from you.
