Burning “The Way”

By Doug Franklin September 9, 2010

A lot is being said right now about the burning of religious type books. This guy down in Florida wants to burn a Quran to mark the 9/11 bombing. I guess he wants to burn it because it leads people to believe things that are not true. If this was the measurement for burning books I might want to burn my copy of The Way Bible. This was the Bible I had as a kid. My Sunday School teachers told me if I memorized verses I could one day remember all of them when I was in a Russian prison suffering for the Lord. Problem is, I have never been in a Russian prison. Many of the verses still help, but not because of imprisonment. The Way Bible also had pictures of students always smiling and having fun. Unfortunately, I came to find my spiritual life was not always fun. There were many days I didn’t smile. Kind of ironic the mixed messages I got from them. What I wish they would have told me was that God would never leave me instead of saying, “everything is always going to be great.”  I am also thinking about burning me copy of Good News For Modern Man Bible; the stick figures scare me.
