Did It Work?

By Doug Franklin February 6, 2014

Almost every week, a youth worker tells me they have used a LeaderTreks resources. My first response is always, “Thank-you.” I am very grateful to youth workers for trusting us when purchasing ministry tools to use with students. My second response is, “Did it work?” I ask this question all the time because if it didn’t work, we wasted the youth worker’s precious money and time.

Youth workers have little time with students. They need to make a big impact and they can’t waste encounters. If they are going to use a curriculum resource it better be easy to use and effective in challenging students to grow in their faith.

The reason I write this post is because I don’t think all youth workers ask themselves this question. They tend to buy resources from publishers they like or youth ministry celebrities they follow. The results can be crappy resources and bored students.

Honestly, there are some great resources out there. A few publishers are really trying to make materials that will challenge the hearts of students. Reward them – buy their stuff and send the message that youth workers only want the publisher’s best.
