Healthy Systems

By Doug Franklin May 25, 2011

We are getting ready to kick-off another summer of trips here at LeaderTreks. This will be our 17th summer of leading trips. I have noticed that we have made the logistics for these trips into a system. Ten years ago it took a month to gear up for the trips; now it takes less then a week, due to great systems we have put in place for gear, transportation, forms and equipment. What is most impressive is our end of summer systems that actually make this kick-off week easy and quick. I have also noticed that systems can become the mission instead of our real mission of developing students as leaders. I was excited when our director talked about how systems should be used to free us up to do the mission of our organization.

So what about your youth ministry, does it have healthy systems so it can focus on students walk with Christ? Does it lack systems and need an overhaul? This summer is a good time to focus on systems. You have the time to study other youth ministries, talk with older youth workers or just make new systems for your youth group. Healthy systems can improve the focus of adult volunteers and insure that students are getting what they need.
