Leaders Set The Standard

By Doug Franklin July 3, 2013

A focused leader creates team momentum.  The team is able to rally around the mission and keep their goals in sight.  By becoming focused, the leader “raises the bar” for the team.  The team can only go as far as the leader is able to lead them.  Leaders need to be committed to developing their focus and ability to achieve goals.  By doing this they will increase the team’s potential.  How does focus help to set the standard?

1. Being focused raises the bar
A leader who is focused is able to raise the bar for their team.  Because they keep their eye on the goals of the team they are able to remind their followers of the purpose for sacrifice and growth that it takes to reach the goals.  A focused leader is able to demand more from their team and get it.

2. Being focused rallies the team
When a team loses track of the mission, momentum is lost.  Teams can waste much time spinning their wheels.  Effective leaders rally the team around their goals and refocus them on the mission.

3. Being focused leads to achieving the goals
Successful teams who are able to maintain focus.  They accomplish their goals because they don’t lose sight of the mission.  Successful leaders spend time keeping their team focused.
