Leadership benefits everyone

It not only is beneficial to everyone, learning about leadership is beneficial for everyone.

Everyone benefits from good leadership. Proverbs 29:2 says, “When good people run things, everyone is glad, but when the ruler is bad, everyone groans.” Leaders affect everyone under their authority. If the leader is effective, people’s lives are better; but if the leader is ineffective, people’s lives are miserable. For this reason the Bible commands us to pray for our leaders.  1 Timothy 2:1-3 (Message) says, “The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know. Pray especially for rulers and their governments to rule well so we can be quietly about our business of living simply, in humble contemplation. This is the way our Savior God wants us to live.”

Everyone benefits from learning about leadership. A few of us have the spiritual gift of leadership, but all of us at some time in our lives will play the role of a leader. Leadership is a set of principles, and universal truths that can be applied to any situation. Therefore, it makes sense to study and apply leadership principles to our lives. Everyone can benefit from leadership development.

Do you want to be a leader? You may not be sure. Do you want to become a better person? Most everyone would answer, “Yes.” Learning about leadership, even if you don’t want to be in a prominent leadership role, will help you identify areas of your life that need improvement. Better still, it will motivate you to make those changes. Often when someone starts to explore the area of leadership they discover a specific ability unique to them. Leadership is about self-discovery.

The truth is that whether you want to be or not – you are a leader!  You may not see yourself this way; nevertheless it is true.  In some area of life – at home, school, church, work place or community – you are a leader.  Throughout your life God will put you in situations where you will lead others.”  Learn to be a leader, and lead wisely so others will see Christ in you and be drawn to Him.
