Simplifying Evaluation

student ministry, youth ministry, youth worker

As leaders we must consistently be doing evaluation. I ask myself, at least ten times a day, “is there a better way?”. I am sure many of you find yourself asking the same question. So how do we create a culture of evaluation and how do we teach our followers to evaluate? Simplify is the key. I use a system I call Target 3. In Target 3 I ask three simple questions: What are three things we are doing well?, what are three things we can improve on?, and what are three action steps we can take to get there? I use these questions all the time with my staff, in fact they know after every event we are going to sit down and do Target 3. This creates a culture and a common language we all use for evaluation. It also calms fears and gives people confidence that  what they say will be received with listening ears. Target 3 is also easy to learn and can be used by anyone making it easy for other staff to use with their followers.

Try Target 3, I think it will be easy to use and it will make evaluation simple.
