Waiting

By Doug Franklin July 15, 2009

The other day a student said to me, “I can’t use God, his word is old and I need a 24 hour God. I need answers now not in two months.” Wow – my heart breaks for God, what must he think when he hears his kids talk that way. He has done it all for us and we complain about the timing.

I do have to say waiting on God is tough and requires maturity and I can understand the student’s frustration. We live in an instant world why not want an instant God. The truth is the waiting process is the growing process, for those that wait there is satisfaction and direction from the Lord. Waiting on God produces perseverance and we all know what perseverance produces; maturity.  One last thing, ‘I can’t use God’ was the student’s statement. Maybe the reason God has us wait is because we want to use God instead of leaning on him and loving him for what he has already done.
