Signs of Weak Leadership

It doesn’t take me long to realize I am with a weak leader. They are actually easy to spot. They change direction very quickly, sometimes so quickly you weren’t even up to speed with their last idea. Their followers quickly change, the people close to them come and go. They lack confidence in themselves and they often tell you about it. These leaders are sometimes likable and we think we can work with them. We even try to teach them some best practices, hoping they will change. The problem is weak leaders who are in leadership seldom take the time to change. They stay in leadership roles frustrating others, spending most of their time hiding their real problems. Some of you may even work for these folks. Commit to not being like them. Get a leadership coach, take leadership seminars and work at growing your leadership. Here are a few more signs of weak leadership:

1. A leader who ask for others’ opinions instead of making decisions.

2. A leader who always wants unity over success.

3. A leader who blames followers.

4. A leaders who doesn’t support people he delegates leadership to.

5. A leader who mimics another leader.

6. A leader who uses the phase “I am the leader so ….”

7. A leader who takes credit for others’ ideas.

8. A leader who micro-manages everything.

9. A leader who never says “thank-you.”

10. A leader who is a people pleaser.
