God’s story is getting lost in a sea of competing stories. Students don’t see that they’ve been invited to join the truest, most life-changing adventure with God. Encounters is a year-long curriculum (52 lessons) that challenges students to move past simply knowing the Word to living God’s truth.

Throughout Encounters, students will wrestle with cultural issues from the perspective of Scripture’s big picture, draw connections between the Old and New Testaments, and grow to understand their calling as citizens of Heaven living on Earth. We each stand at the crossroads between God’s invitation and the world—let’s choose to find our place in God’s story.

Encounters has replaced Intersections. Each updated lesson includes brand new content and we’ve included a completely new and expanded graphics package.

Scope & Sequence

August

Gospel

A 4-week series about the Gospel. Sin separates us from God and we need to be rescued from our sin. Thankfully, God has provided a plan that more than meets our needs.

September

Together

A 4-week series about the Church—the community of faith God established to unify all believers and to help us follow Jesus together. We're part of a family that's meant to be shared.

October

Culture

A 4-week series that explores what it means to be in the world but not of it and what to do when God's everlasting truth intersects with our always-changing culture.

November

Sacred

A 4-week series about spiritual disciplines—they're more than a checklist of to-dos, they are ways of living in relationship with Jesus every single day.

Thanksgiving

Cultivating Gratitude is a Thanksgiving lesson from Psalm 95. Gratitude to God requires soft hearts. You can use this as a standalone lesson for Thanksgiving or anytime.

December

Christmas

2 Christmas-themed lessons that prepare students' hearts to receive and celebrate the gift of Christmas. You can use these lessons individually or together during Advent or anytime.

January

New Year

Do-Over is a standalone lesson from John 8 that explores how God offers us second chances so we can be transformed. You can use this lesson to kick off the New Year or anytime.

Broken

A 4-week series that explores how God is merciful and his grace is more than enough for our weakness. From everyday struggles to global crises, our world is far from perfect. Life is messy and God is merciful.

Calling

A 4-week series that explores how there's a bigger purpose for our lives. Instead of wandering through life, God guides our steps as we trust in and rely on him, because God has a unique calling for his children.

March

Adventure

A 4-week series about the adventure of following Jesus. Living radically for Christ is risky, but God promises to empower and reward us when we join him. Life with God is the greatest adventure!

Easter

A 3-lesson series that can be used in the week(s) leading up to Easter Sunday. These lessons focus on passages recounting Jesus' path to the cross and the transformative power of the resurrection.

April

Fulfilled

A 4-week series that explores God's message of hope in the Old and New Covenants, Jesus' fulfillment of the law, and the inclusion of all people in the promise. Seeing the big picture of what God has been doing help us find our place in God's story.

May

Creation

A 4-week series exploring the story of Creation. God wants us to know how much he loves us and everything else he has created. Your students will learn about the purpose and value that God has given every part of creation.

Graduation

Adulting is a standalone lesson from Ephesians 5:1–16 about growing in spiritual maturity. Following Christ means imitating him. You can use this lesson during times of transition, as a special message for your graduating seniors, or anytime.

June

Wise

A 4-week series about Godly wisdom. It's easy to make decisions based on what we see and have been told, rather than turning to God for wisdom. With God’s wisdom, we can discern with confidence how we should live and what is true.

July

Messengers

A 4-week series that explores how we fit into God's epic story—God wants us to follow Jesus' example and share our stories with the world. When we follow Jesus, God's story becomes our story.
